Enjoy..
Dr. Hamad's in-laws provided us with these yummy Egyptian desserts! The one on the plate was very sweet and had different nuts and a maple-syrup-soaked bread consistency. The outer dessert had coconut on top so I liked it immediately! We ate these between pyramid climbs. Great for refueling!
Also great for refueling is guava juice! I'm getting really used to this drink and will really miss it when I get back to the states. It is very tasty! Almost like a mix between a pear and an apple.. at least I think so.
For lunch we got some Egyptian fast food. Here, Matt models a felafel burger in a pita pocket.
With our burger, we had a side of fries in a pita, and ful in a pita. Ful is basically baked beans (maybe slightly refried?) with some spices.
For dinner, we had an Egyptian bbq. This is just a picture of our appetizers! Lots of different things to dip our bread in, and some fried dough-wrapped meat and sausages.
Then came the kebabs. Veggies, lamb, chicken, and beef. All amazing and tender.
This is just half of our group at the restaurant.
All wrapped up with dessert. Om Ali - This is smashed up puff pastries, nuts, raisins, honey, sweetened milk, and coconut. I'm really starting to love Egypt for its many uses of coconut.
Hope you enjoyed the food-filled post!
Tess
